Ginger Barber

Founder

Ginger Barber has been a design force for Houstonians, and their second homes, since she opened her firm over 40 years ago. Acclaimed as one of the best interior design firms in Houston, Barber’s motto, “keep it simple,” shapes her calm, effortless looks with natural hues, textures and subtle repetitive patterns. Barber pays close attention to detail, listening carefully to her clients in order to transform their homes into a retreat. Her extensive background in both traditional and contemporary styles allows her to meticulously combine the two in perfect harmony.

Barber, originally from Merritt Island, Florida, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sarasota’s Ringling School of Art and Design. After working at the Brownstone Gallery for four years, she formed her own company and worked with the Rosewood Corporation in Los Angeles for a year, commuting back and forth from Houston. From there, her business only grew with work spanning beyond Texas to California, New York and London, and Barber’s expertise has brought her some notable clientele who recognize her special touch.

Barber enjoys escaping the city on the weekends, either to design or work with her favorite non-profit, Habitat for Horses. A nerve was struck when she was bird watching in Galveston and stumbled upon a neglected horse tied to a post. She has made horse rehabilitation and equine research one of her top passions and currently serves as Vice President on the board of Habitat for Horses. In her free time, Barber stays busy by spending time with her family, especially her grandson.

In 2014, Barber won the Designer of the Year Award at The Decorative Center Houston.
